A recent visit to the local botanical gardens revealed an abundance of kookaburras, many perched quietly among the trees, observing the world around them. While these iconic Australian birds are often celebrated for their distinctive laughter-like call, it was their quieter moments that captured my attention.
For this artwork, I wanted to focus on a fleeting moment of stillness—a pause between movement and sound. The close composition allowed me to highlight the kookaburra’s alert gaze, intricate feather patterns, and calm presence. Rather than depicting action, I wanted to celebrate observation and create a sense of connection with the subtle beauty that exists all around us.
Through layered colour, delicate detail, and a softly understated background, my aim was to allow the bird’s expression to become the focal point of the piece.
This artwork is an invitation to slow down, look a little closer, and appreciate the quiet moments in nature that so often pass unnoticed. It reflects my ongoing fascination with the beauty, grace, and presence found within Australia’s native wildlife.

Caught Off Guard
Not every artwork begins with a grand idea. Sometimes a single expression is enough.
Although Sloths are not native to Australia, this little face immediately captured my attention. With wide, watchful eyes and a tiny tongue peeking out, he appeared both vulnerable and completely unaware of just how adorable he looked.
There was something wonderfully honest about the moment—a glimpse of innocence, curiosity, and gentle character that felt impossible to resist. I was drawn to the warmth in his expression and the quiet connection that seemed to invite a closer look.
Through layers of colour, texture, and detail, I sought to capture not only the likeness of this remarkable animal, but also the endearing personality that made the moment so memorable.
This artwork is a celebration of those unexpected moments that make us smile and remind us that beauty is often found in the simplest, most unguarded expressions.

“Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so.” — Genesis 1:11
This painting began not in a studio, but in an unexpected moment of grace. Walking to my car one ordinary day, I happened to glance up — and there it was. A blaze of orange nestled in the green canopy of a mandarin tree I had almost forgotten. For years, the tree had stood quietly at the back of the property, its silence a reflection of the long dry seasons we endure living on tank water. It had given us nothing, and perhaps I had given it little thought in return.
But the rains had come.
And while I hadn’t been watching, something quietly miraculous had been happening. The tree, unbidden and unattended, had laden itself with fruit — more than two of us could ever eat alone. We picked and shared, filling the hands of neighbours and friends, and still there was more. It was extravagant. It was excessive. It was, in the truest sense, abundant.
“And God saw that it was good.” — Genesis 1:12
I knew I needed to paint it. What I didn’t know was what to call it. That answer came one quiet morning in prayer — a single word that held everything: Abundance. It spoke of the drought being over. Of provision arriving without fanfare. Of nature’s extraordinary capacity to give, lavishly and without condition, when the season finally turns.
The painting captures that close, golden moment — the weight of the fruit on the branch, the dappled light filtering through leaves, the warm glow of mandarins ripening in their own time and on their own terms. It is a study in patience rewarded, and in the humbling realisation that abundance often arrives when we are simply not looking.
“Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’” — Genesis 1:29
From a forgotten tree on a quiet property, to a canvas, to this collection — this is a painting about the faithfulness of God’s provision. The drought ends. The fruit comes. And it is always, always good.

This piece explores the quiet courage of allowing ourselves to be seen — the tenderness, vulnerability, and emotional honesty that so often sit beneath the surface. Through softness, stillness, and a single tear, a moment captured that feels deeply human and quietly connected.
The rich earthy tones, gentle highlights, and layered shadows create warmth and intimacy, drawing focus to emotion rather than expression alone. There is a quiet strength within vulnerability — not something to hide from, but something that can connect us more deeply to ourselves and to one another.
Much of my work is influenced by an interest in emotional depth, reflection, and authentic human experience. This piece invites the viewer to pause for a moment — to feel, reflect, and perhaps recognise something of themselves within it.

This piece captures the fleeting beauty and strength of a single bloom at its peak. There is a contrast between the soft, ruffled petals and the intense, saturated core—delicate yet bold, fragile yet powerful. The layering of whites, pinks, and deep crimson reflects the emotional depth. The flower feels almost suspended in time, radiating quiet energy, as if it were breathing. It’s a reflection on light, form, and the quiet drama of a moment fully lived.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this Rainbow Lorikeet piece — an opportunity to capture not only the striking beauty of one of Australia’s most recognisable native birds, but also the sense of familiarity and joy they so often bring to everyday life.
Rainbow Lorikeets frequently visit my garden, and I have always loved watching their playful interactions — darting through the trees, gathering noisily among the branches, and chattering together as they pause to drink nearby. Their energy, curiosity, and vibrant colouring make them almost impossible to ignore, often turning even quiet moments outdoors into something lively and full of character.
I was particularly drawn to the incredible contrast of colour within their feathers — the rich cobalt blues, luminous greens, and warm sunset tones that seem to glow in changing light. Through layered colour, softness, and detail, I wanted to create a portrait that felt both expressive and refined, while drawing focus to the bird’s intelligent gaze and unmistakable personality.
This artwork reflects my ongoing love of Australian wildlife and the beauty found within familiar moments of nature — celebrating colour, connection, and the everyday wonder these native birds bring to the Australian landscape.

A fine art wildlife print capturing Yoshi, an orphaned young Eastern Grey Kangaroo joey whose calm and watchful nature reflects a quiet gentleness and thoughtful curiosity. Often content to sit peacefully within the comfort of his pouch, observing the playful antics of the other joeys around him, Yoshi carries a stillness that felt both grounding and deeply endearing.
This artwork invites a slower connection, where meaning is found in stillness rather than movement.
